Thank you to our Incongruables:

Arjun Radeesh :

So in today's episode we'll be talking about.... what the Mars mission the thing so much..... Oh, he finally finds the... [distortion]

Stephen King :

[Laughter] I think we would have a better connection from Mars.

Arjun Radeesh :

Can you hear me now?

Alarm Clock :

Brrriiiing!

Arjun Radeesh :

So today we are going to discuss about hope and aspirations as we see the Hope probe going to Mars and so much things done by the Emirati scientists. So today we want to discuss something similar with our fellow Incongruables. So what me across the table I have Zainab and then I'm having Imnah sitting under a mountain Hashim in his good, nice, spacious room. Dhan in her phone, Samira, I don't know where she is, but still Hi, and we have Mabel and the ultimate guy, the master brain of the Incongruent, Steve. So we start off with Steve himself.

Stephen King :

So one of my one of the greatest things that I've enjoyed in the last 10 years is to do various travel challenges. So I have travelled to do horse riding. So I've done horse riding on a Dude ranch in America, I've done the horse riding, playing Polo in Colombia. I've done horse riding in Ibiza, I've ridden elephants in Sri Lanka. So I've done all of that kind of stuff. I've done boxing in different countries as well. I've done cycling around different countries. So I'm looking for now a new travel adventure. And I think I want to play the saxophone on different beaches around the world. I want to find different open mic nights, right, and just go from city to city to city... and then go into the open mic, bring out the saxophone and belt away to an audience of a dozen maybe, because that's all that attends these things and I'm not that good. But that would be for me, like when everything all comes to the ability where we can move and travel, that that would be something I think would be a really good challenge for me because that would encourage me to maintain this new hobby. And it would give me a very, very exciting way of travelling around the world.

Arjun Radeesh :

You know, I just remember imagine like OK Steve playing saxophone on the banks of the Venice lake. How will that be?

Stephen King :

[Simulated saxophone] something like that.

Arjun Radeesh :

Okay, like yeah, I get it. I thought of a collab with National Geographics?

Stephen King :

I don't think I'd make it Nat Geo yet. I don't think I'm good enough. I'd have to I don't know what there is a lower lower quality, I think, is there a Bob TV or something like this? There's a Bob satellite channel somewhere.

Arjun Radeesh :

Okay, so moving from Steve To Hashim What's up buddy?

Mabel :

Yeah, my hopes Oh, of how few I have got because all my hopes and aspirations are you know... I hate New Year's resolutions. So I don't really do plans. I'm more of a improvised guy. So I really want to go and start again my comedy career of how short run it was it was on on like blank space, I did a couple sets on blank space. I tried to do something with Dubomedy, but so far through because of you know, COVID and stuff. But I really want to try and I want to get to by next year, I can do a stand up set outside of the country outside of the country, because you know, I mean, the stand-up culture here is really nice. I don't think they liked me very much, or they liked me enough for two sets, because that's all that I did so far. So I really want to build on my on my stand-up specials. And I'm really waiting for the crowds to come back.

Arjun Radeesh :

Okay, so good luck on that. Then we have Imnah see how vibrant a smile is that of hers.

Imnah :

Hi, our listeners can exactly see me but I am smiling. I'm loving this conversation.

Arjun Radeesh :

Yep, we are. We are bringing it to the most interesting parts, but still. Okay, so Imnah, how's things going on with you and what is your hopes and aspirations?

Imnah :

Well, like you said, I'm currently living under a mountain. I'm not literally but I live next to Jebel Jais in Ras Al Khaimah. So that has been quite the opposite of eventful. We just have cows sleeping on the road and stuff like that. So I've actually been hibernating over the summer. I feel like I've been taking a backseat and letting things just slowly pass by and life has honestly been very boring. And I really miss the buzz of the city. I miss seeing people I miss seeing you guys I just missed being where the action is. So I think my hopes for the future is that really as we're recovering from this Coronavirus that we just be able to have a lot of great times and make good memories. I want to work really hard. I want to break out of this bubble of laziness that I'm in right now. And I don't want the effects of the Coronavirus to take a major toll on that. Because I know that as we turn back, we'll be thinking about social distancing and precautions stuff like that. So these are very necessary things I feel. But at the same time, it may limit the way we have contact with each other in the future, even once we've transitioned away from this period of the virus. So that's what I'm hoping will not happen. But yeah, really excited for the year to come and where we might be going with the future of this podcast. I hope that we make something amazing out of this I really feel like it's happening. It's happening already. And we're going places guys.

Arjun Radeesh :

That is super sweet. Oh, good thoughts, by the way. So let's move on to Dhan who I think I can see her building from my office. So hi, Dhan.

Dhan :

Hello. So what I aspire to be is that I want to become an author and publish my poetry and short stories on plausible websites, since the ones I've used to now are mostly forums for teens or children. And I enjoy writing. So being an author has been my goal and something I wanted to do ever since I was in the fifth grade. And since coming to journalism, it's also been one thing that kept on giving me more thoughts to write on. So thank you for journalism, honestly. And thank you all for supporting me In writing, so, other than that, I will go on to travel, and make blogs and learn about the culture of different countries. And I've always loved linguistics. So in part with my aspiration to travel, I would like to enjoy learning the language from the country I visit.

Arjun Radeesh :

Okay, well, I'll be your first destination.

Dhan :

I think France because I've already have a base in learning French from school. So I would want to go to France and improve my language. School just teaches you a lot of the basics on how to speak but you don't really have the proper vocal thing where you can communicate with a person. So I would want to go to France to learn the entire language.

Arjun Radeesh :

Like I got pretty surprised using France at first because you're the person that I would go for Japanese. Yes, Japanese, Japan. I think almost what Steve says is like, okay, he needs to travel the world you, like almost every one of us want to travel around the world. Okay, so moving on to Mabel.

Mabel :

Um, nothing much at the moment. I've never been a person to make plans. So I just really don't know what to look. I mean, what do you like, plan to in the future be it like uni life or otherwise, it's just, you know, I'm just gonna go with the flow. I mean, life is so unpredictable, especially after the COVID-19 virus and I'm just like, okay, let's just see how everything happens. So yeah, that's basically what I'm thinking.

Arjun Radeesh :

Okay, but I do agree like, okay, life will not be easy sometimes. As how we plan things might not happen. Um, so thank you, Mabel, for sharing your thoughts. Moving on to my colleague, Zainab please. What's up with you?

Zainab :

Hey, Arjun. I'm doing awesome. As you can see from a very far away distance.

Arjun Radeesh :

What is your hope or do you have anything like that?

Stephen King :

She hopes she hopes that you might be, she hopes that you might be chivalrous enough to let her have your chair and not make her kneel on the floor.

Zainab :

I can probably just walk and get my own. Independent women get their own chair.

Arjun Radeesh :

Okay, so then what is your hope or aspirations for the future?

Zainab :

Well, I'm thinking super long term. So super long term would be travelling like 50 countries. So I'm thinking about doing right now. The top one would be Italy for now, as scary and shocking as it sounds. I've been obsessed with the place for a while now. So I'm doing that. And well, career wise, I was thinking I'd probably be my own boss well, soon, because there's been so much of internships going on. I'm like, Okay, let me start my own already. And the reason I say I want to do my own journalism is probably because of the mess, you know, sometimes the wrong kind of media has made on people, especially in such times, and that's what we as you know, 21st century students are learning that it's not really happening in the right way. So that is why I say, you know, because we understand the negativity of it and how it influences people. So that's what I've been trying to do and establish, at least within myself and the people close to me.

Arjun Radeesh :

Okay, so are you gonna establish the Zainab version of journalism?

Zainab :

Hopefully, so maybe if I can do it, why not?

Arjun Radeesh :

Great. Awesome. So, before reaching back to me, I would like to know how things are going on with Samira.

Samira :

Things are things are going good for Samira. Well, yeah, I'm definitely hoping that with the photography I've taken on and all the activities and jobs I just really like to explore the world from a different point of view with people who have worked in the industry and can kind of you know how they say photo photo says 1000 words or whatever the actual quote is. And so yeah, just being able to experience that and obviously travel for free. Haha.

Arjun Radeesh :

Oh, that's pretty great Sameera. Okay, moving on to the what is my hope? I do find more hope on our podcast. So podcast is kept on priority. I think I will. I would love to do this even after university also. Okay, so when it comes to the second one, as part of my hope is get into a radio station. Okay, one of the famous radio stations anywhere around the world and do for them present for them. So now my main focus is on content presenting because that is something which we all need to excel, at one point of pity, definitely I would love to have that.

Stephen King :

That's lovely one thing, Mabel. This is perhaps for Mabel and Samira to help you. If there is one thing, think about this question for you, Mabel, and maybe Samira as well. Well, if there's one thing you could do before the end of this year, right, and then you come back on January the first and you look back at this year, and you think I'm proud that I did that. Alright. Let's have a think about that. And try if anyone can come up with an answer, I can give them the next question.

Samira :

I mean, the first thing that comes to mind for me it's nothing serious or it might not seem as significant as it does to me to other people, but just making an effort to reach out and see my friends more really.

Stephen King :

Okay. So you want to reach your friends more. Okay. Now, what resources do you have that will help you to achieve that in the resources that you have that you physically have what you have to visit people,

Samira :

Myself.

Stephen King :

You have your physical body you've got your health be grateful for that. Yeah. What else? Do you drive?

Samira :

Phones, other digital devices... I'm starting to

Stephen King :

You are starting to, but if you don't drive then what else? Can you use?

Samira :

public transport? Parents.

Stephen King :

Okay, good. And what's stopping you?

Samira :

My current schedule,

Stephen King :

your current schedule, anything else?

Zainab :

My current schedule making me tired and choosing myself over going out to see friends.

Stephen King :

Okay, so you've got you've got a work schedule and you're tired, right? So then what you need to do, what's your next what's your first step that will help you see your friends,

Samira :

Trying to figure my schedule out, make it a little more efficient, and learn to prioritise things outside of work.

Stephen King :

There you go. So maybe that's something if you write that down on a piece of paper, then that is a pathway to achieving your goals by the end of time, so there's a little trick. And the other thing is, is when.... a very good friend taught me that when I travelled around the world with my video camera, if you are going to start a business, you don't need MONEY you don't, all you need is an IDEA. And then you need to see CUSTOMER customer. So first things first, develop an idea, come up with an idea. So there's plenty of different places that you can go co working spaces, the Innovation Hub at Emirates towers, go and gather with other people who are starting up businesses, you don't need a trade licence, you just need to come up with the idea first, and then you seek support. You build the infrastructure, your business case, your finances, you build your accounts, you find out all of the all the trade licence options are real because there's something like the Dubai economic trader licence, which is very cheap if especially if you're on your family visa. And you can you can do a lot of stuff with that. So [pause] I'm having five minutes? What's that mean?

Arjun Radeesh :

Five minutes being like I have my five minutes of break.

Stephen King :

Oh finish?

Arjun Radeesh :

I have five minutes until I'm back to work.

Stephen King :

Alright, so then Okay, fine. You're seeing me off, that's what you mean. "Steve, you're talking too much, shut up!" On that note, I hope that well, very soon coming to the stage will be stand up Hashim with my saxophone. Okay, we've got a new business from Samira, possibly with Mabel in there as well and maybe Zainab, I don't know. Dhan is travelling to Paris with us, we'll go, we'll do the Eiffel Tower, our first gig. Yeah. And then maybe we'll go to Italy, whatever it was gonna be. And on that note Arjun you can sound was off for the last time for this episode of season.

Arjun Radeesh :
