Arjun Radeesh  0:11
Hey guys, welcome to a brand new episode of Let's talk to grads. So today with us, we have Anamika here. So hey Anamika How is things going on with you today?

Anamika Premkumar  0:23
Hey Arjun, Im doing really well. What about you? how are you doing?

Arjun Radeesh  0:27
I'm doing pretty great. Like went outside yesterday after a long time. And yeah, how was your weekend? By the way?

Anamika Premkumar  0:36
Oh, it's going well. I had a rather hectic week. So it's nice that the weekend was nice, I guess.

Arjun Radeesh  0:42
Okay.

Was it productive enough?

Anamika Premkumar  0:48
The weekend? Yeah.

Arjun  0:49
Oh, great cool. So, um, let's cut to the chase. So let's go on to our first round the rapid fire. So in this, you know the deal, right? You're, you're answering questions as fast as possible, but we don't, but I encourage you not to make it a slow fire. Let's make it rapid fire. Okay,

okay cool. So no pressure right ?

Anamika Premkumar  1:17
no pressure. Okay, your first question? What is your guilty pleasure in non food category?

Okay, so

sometimes I like watching the cringy realities show,

I wouldn't say like the entire show itself. But like

clips, like, for example, Keeping Up With The Kardashians, sometimes like their clips on Instagram. I kind of watch that and then get sucked in a little bit. And also recently was Indian matchmaking. I feel like half the world has watched it. So I don't know whether I'd be that guilty about it. But, you know, it's a reality show. And I usually pride myself in not watching. We are the shows, but like, sometimes it's

Arjun Radeesh  2:00
okay, define yourself in three words.

Unknown Speaker  2:03
Um, I'd say goofy, hard working and quirky. That's so cringy but like,

Arjun Radeesh  2:13
I have no comments for this.

Okay, fine. So, can you cook?

Anamika Premkumar  2:22
Kind of,

Arjun Radeesh  2:24
 okay.

Anamika Premkumar  2:24
It depends on my mood

Arjun  2:25
Okay, so yes, in case if you can cook. Fine. So in case if you can cook What is your go to dish?

Unknown Speaker  2:34
Um,

Anamika Premkumar  2:36
okay, if I could cook or like if I already have all the skills,

Arjun Radeesh  2:41
if you could cook if you could cook?

Anamika Premkumar  2:44
Oh. I guess lasagna is like one of my favourite things to eat. So why not? But I don't think having a lasagna every day would be like advice.

Arjun Radeesh  2:58
So you're saying lasagna is your go to dish.

Unknown Speaker  3:02
Now, it's my favourite dish. My go to would probably probably be like, pasta with like, vegetables and tomato sauce.

Arjun  3:11
Okay, that's okay, let's so technically the Desi style. Um, so you wait you're

Unknown Speaker  3:18
asking me a Desi Style dish.

Arjun Radeesh  3:20
No, it's like, wow. Like so?  Okay, since you're putting pasta with vegetables and sauce. So is it like the Desi style pasta?

Anamika Premkumar  3:29
I'm not really? Um, no, it's not. I don't think it is.

Arjun Radeesh  3:34
Okay, fine.

Chuck, let's go to the next question. Okay. Do you believe in aliens?

Anamika Premkumar  3:41
Oh, yes, I do.

Arjun Radeesh  3:43
Okay, what are your top three pet peeves?

Anamika Premkumar  3:47
My top 3 pet peeves one would be children crying, like really loudly in public spaces. Or like, me, I cannot stand alone. Stop. Yeah, I sound like a terrible person. But like, it's a bad people. Second is when I'm like doing work, like when I'm focusing and concentrating really hard on something and doing and then someone tries to pick a conversation with me at that time. Nope. And number three, I guess will be like, like people with bad like, with bad hygiene standards, I guess you could say. Yeah, just be clean, guys.

Arjun Radeesh  4:25
Okay, hygiene in terms of like, Can you describe it?

Anamika Premkumar  4:29
Um, it could be like, people who sneeze and then they don't cover their mouth with their hand. It's me. I know. Like, yeah,

Arjun Radeesh  4:41
of course, like nowadays nowadays without even covering. It's sort of like, way too risky, right?

Anamika Premkumar  4:49
Yeah.

Arjun  4:50
If you were an animal what would be what would be or would be your spiritual animal?

Anamika Premkumar  4:57
Okay, like my spirit. Um, I don't know why the first thing that comes to my mind is likea rabbit. It just like fluffy and cute. I don't even think that people see me. But I don't know. I just like rabbits. I believe they just mind their own business.

Arjun Radeesh  5:16
Okay,

Anamika Premkumar  5:17
that a reasonable statement? I don't know.

Arjun Radeesh  5:19
So you consider yourself your your spirit animal as a rabbit?

Anamika Premkumar  5:24
I guess so.

Arjun Radeesh  5:25
Okay. That's fine. No worries when eating cereal, milk or cereal first,

Anamika Premkumar  5:31
Milk first and then cereal.

Arjun Radeesh  5:33
Okay, fine. Your last question. Pineapple. On pineapple or pizza?

Arjun  5:40
No, just No,

you don't like pineapple on pizza?

Anamika Premkumar  5:45
Oh, I mean, I'm pretty sure

again, this could be like a bit. Like, why would you say that if you've never tried it? I'm not like a big fan of fruits itself. So to put up fruit on something that you're not supposed to fruit, so on. seems weird to me.

Arjun Radeesh  6:02
Okay. reasonable, reasonable stuff. Okay, the last last question. What are you an expert that?

Anamika Premkumar  6:12
Oh, okay. Um,

Arjun Radeesh  6:15
this one, you should answer no matter what.

Anamika Premkumar  6:19
Ah, I wouldn't say I'm an expert at anything as such, but I do pride myself in my writing skills. And I can also doodle pretty well. I'd like to see.

Arjun Radeesh  6:32
Oh, that's interesting. So that comes to the end of the burning, rapid fire. So the next round, this can cause around it, but this is going to be a casual conversation. How do you describe yourself as? Okay, let's say a friend's character. Because I think I think almost everyone like the seniors friends. So how would you? How which character would you relate yourself

Anamika Premkumar  6:55
to? Oh, okay. So I feel like I relate with Rachel. But I know my friends see me as like Monica. So I would say like Rachel and slash Monica.

Okay, so are you saying you're having the sort of typical OCD's and all those?

Um, I wouldn't say yeah, who have like certain that I need, like a particular way, but not to, not to a point where it's like, Okay, I'm completely like, Monica, like clean freak, you know? But yeah, like I need some things on a particular way. Okay.

Arjun Radeesh  7:32
I also heard that you're called as the slay of MDX. So, tell me about that. How, how is NPR How is your slay? Oh, sorry. How would you slay what your stuff but in MDX

Anamika Premkumar  7:49
I just tell you like how we came I came up with this, like how that even happenedin like,

Arjun Radeesh  7:54
yeah, lets talk  the story.

Anamika Premkumar  7:57
Okay, so basically, I used to have like a blogging account, and I had an Instagram to go with it. And I changed my Instagram handles like the blogging one to "slayamika", and I didn't think anyone was gonna notice or even care. And then my friends started callingme that and they were like, Oh, you have an account with this name. And I'm like, they were not supposed to see that. So yeah, I guess like, after they just started calling me like, slay?

Arjun Radeesh  8:26
Okay, this, this is sort of like we have to put like another podcast for letting to know, how does the entire journey we have to plan that out?

Okay,

Anamika Premkumar  8:37
the entire show just for me?

Arjun  8:40
Oh, so I also heard that you are a hardcore foodie.

Anamika Premkumar  8:46
Yeah, I love food. It's also one who doesn't like food? Like, what? If you're a foodie then how, how do you interact with other human beings? I don't understand.

Arjun Radeesh  8:58
Okay, so you're telling food is a means of communication to each other?

Anamika Premkumar  9:03
Yeah, definitely. Okay. People like Eat to Live. I kind of live to eat.

Arjun Radeesh  9:11
You kind of live to read Okay, so you have Okay, since they are so my I have a doubt so in case if you're a hardcore foodie, you must be having an Instagram page only with the pictures of food.

Anamika Premkumar  9:21
No, but I have a highlight section on my personal Instagram.

Arjun Radeesh  9:26
Okay, what has been your  I heard that your favourite chocolate is Bounty?

Anamika Premkumar  9:32
Yes,

Arjun Radeesh  9:33
like okay, that is something which hasn't been much time because of the coconut and bounty. So what makes you take bounty as your chocolates of choice?

Anamika Premkumar  9:44
Because I love coconut. Coconut. I like coconut in any all my guess. Um, so yeah, there's a coconut chocolate like why would I not either. On my parents.

Arjun Radeesh  9:58
So now I'm born. Big. No not fancy big. I'm going to dive into your uni life. Okay, so how has been your three years at Middlesex?

Anamika Premkumar  10:13
Oh, it's been awesome. It's definitely been a roller coaster for many reasons, but I do not regret anything at all. It's just been an awesome joining. For sure. Okay,

Arjun Radeesh  10:26
so, so what is the most memorable thing in uni life?

Anamika Premkumar  10:31
Okay, pick any like one instance just because I can't think of right off the bat, but me and my friends we used to, like after class go to the food court and they just didn't hang around there. So I think that's like one of my favourite memories.

Arjun Radeesh  10:46
Okay, so in food court, what do you do?

Anamika Premkumar  10:49
Um, or to like,

Arjun Radeesh  10:51
other than it is food other than eating food.

Anamika Premkumar  10:55
We just like had it on to talk. That's literally it like waste time.

Arjun Radeesh  11:04
Okay, so guys, please note Anamika is a person who likes to waste time.

Anamika Premkumar  11:09
Okay, hello.

Arjun Radeesh  11:15
Oh, okay, fine, fine. Fine. You told that you are an expert in writing. So have you written any articles doing these three years?

Anamika Premkumar  11:25
Yes, I actually did write an article for a beat. I interviewed Adam. He's like another dude from our uni. And yeah, so I was really happy. Like, write something for RedBeat.

Arjun Radeesh  11:42
Okay, so what is your major achievement that you got to do when you're in university?

Anamika Premkumar  11:54
Um, okay, so, I would say I was the rising star for drama club in 2017. I sent into 2018. So that was, like, one of my biggest achievements, I guess in uni, is I'm really proud of my grades. So let's say that as well.

Arjun Radeesh  12:15
So if suppose you're a rising star in the drama club, technically, you should be a drama queen. If I'm not wrong, right.

Anamika Premkumar  12:23
Maybe I am. Haha.

Arjun Radeesh  12:27
Aha, things are coming up. We are getting some things revealed.

Anamika Premkumar  12:32
Why are you trying to expose me to?

Arjun Radeesh  12:37
Nobody? Nobody's over here. We like to open the doors. Nothing better to get everything. Let everyone know how things are. Okay. So how do you what is your been your passion?

Anamika Premkumar  12:51
Um, okay. Um, like, creativity or like just in general? Oh, I have a passion for drawing, I guess. Like, I think I mentioned on the other podcast I like to doodle.

I like to I like anything creative. Yeah, I guess that would be my passion. Like, just creative stuff.

Arjun Radeesh  13:15
So have you been able to follow that during these days?

Anamika Premkumar  13:18
Yeah, actually. So after quarantine head,

I mean, I'm pretty sure out of boredom. A lot of people like to come new hobbies or just started like, you know, revisiting the like old ones. So I used to doodle like, before I signed up or like, even in the early days of uni, and then I just like dropped everything because I want to focus on school. So I recently started doodling again, just, you know, saving stuff on my Pinterest board and just really getting back to doing something that I'm good at. I guess.

Arjun Radeesh  13:53
I should have asked me a question to you at first. But So how has lockdown days  been for you?

Anamika Premkumar  14:00
Dude, Oh my god. I know. It's been insane.

There have been like, moments of like boredom then just like I'm just like the stolen your mental health as well. So I think I learned a lot about myself as well during this quarantine time. So I guess in a way it was kind of good, but I don't think anyone else would agree that the quarantine time was like amazing. Anything I'm saying it is but yeah, it was a time percent reflection.

Arjun Radeesh  14:35
Yeah, I know some people who said that quarantine was amazing. Okay. For those guys. I actually told Okay, I'm like, you guys are no you guys are not normal.

Anamika Premkumar  14:47
Are these people introverts  ?

Arjun Radeesh  14:49
I think? Yeah. At least Yeah. A small percentage of them are introverts.

Yeah, buddy. I heard that. You are an ambivert

Anamika Premkumar  15:02
Yes, I'm an ambivert

It's hard to say that I'm I mean, I wouldn't say I'm like a hardcore extrovert hardcore introvert. I'm like, in between, cuz I like to talk to people get to know new people, but I need like enough time to like recharge by myself. Because attend social events and stuff can exhaust you after a while so I'm someone who needs like my alone time to recharge as well.

Arjun Radeesh  15:29
So yeah, so in your aloone time what you normally do,

Anamika Premkumar  15:33
um, it could be anything like just watching Netflix just spending time with yourself we want to we want to do making like random mug cake recipes.

Arjun Radeesh  15:45
So how's your mug cakes become successful?

Anamika Premkumar  15:48
Oh, yes. So I have this like one. One that I tried out it came outreally well.

So yeah, but it's always like trial and error. Especially when you're not like, baker or something. But yeah, the six small achievements count you know, when you make your like mug cake or mug brownie recipe, small achievements in life, that means so much to you. Yeah, in a disaster. It is what it is. No,

Arjun Radeesh  16:26
that's, that's pretty great, actually have you. So what would be your advice to the first years we'll be joining this year in uni,

Anamika Premkumar  16:37
um, I would say that My first tip was hands down the best year of all three years of uni life. So just join as many clubs as you can, but don't overwhelm yourself at the same time. Join as many clubs as you can meet as many people as you can. You know, learn as many new skills as you can, and just attend all your classes.

Okay, so a strong believer that you must not what? bunk?

Yeah, don't bunk  Okay,

Arjun Radeesh  17:11
guys, please note if you want, if you want to get good marks don't bump. Or else it's up to you. I mean, it's up to you to decide for yourself, whether you want a bunk, or you want to get like a graduate with one, or like a first class honours or something, but like

Anamika Premkumar  17:31
somebody just to just make most of your university life because it's gonna be like for three years, and then you're gonna hit the real world. So just really enjoy it and just embrace every moment.

Arjun Radeesh  17:44
Oh okay . So I would like to end this conversation by talking about your blog, which is now inactive, which was active for one time. What was it snail?

Anamika Premkumar  17:56
A Black explosion.

Arjun Radeesh  17:59
Okay, I want to get the exclusive. I forget the explosion sound effects. Okay. Okay, no worries. So tell me about the black explosion.

Anamika Premkumar  18:13
Okay, so I started when I was in, like 11th or 12th. So let's just say like 2016 ish. And I wanted like a safe space where I would like to, like, you know, express my thoughts about anything random. It could be random, I think. So I call it like a black explosion and the sub like, subtitle was random lands and musings or something. And yeah, I just take random pictures of things and then talk about it. Or like moments that inspire me, which is like my safe space. So now the reason I call it a black explosion, it was supposed to be kind of like an irony because it was a place of creativity. But the name was like, a black explosion. It was. I don't know, man. My 11th grade thoughts were just weird I was cool. Yes, I was in.

Arjun Radeesh  19:04
Is the website so active?

Anamika Premkumar  19:06
Yeah, it is. It's a black explosion.wordpress.com I think I haven't visited in like 4 years

Arjun Radeesh  19:14
okay, but but there there are some some stuff kept to read, right? Yes. Okay. So guys, please support please support this girl so she can get back to writing in the black explosion. Okay,

Anamika Premkumar  19:27
yes.

Arjun Radeesh  19:28
So that's all folks. Thank you so much. Anamika for being such an amazing guest. Like I was sitting there laughing like a lot, and this is something which I like of this particular person, like, okay, she says that she is the Monica and Rachel that sort of like, okay, two extremes. But so yeah, it's uh, it's, it's pretty interesting. And again, like, yeah, she's a hardcore foodie. Like even Im alos hardcore foodie like, yo, can you guys see my Instagram Stories also, you will find it One food story like every single day, okay, but But still, I'm not a chocolate based guy. I'm more of what a Nut based guy.

Yeah, I love.

I love nuts, especially hazelnuts.

Anamika Premkumar  20:18
Oh my god. Okay,

Arjun Radeesh  20:20
so that's all guys. So thank you so much for listening. Thank you so much, Anamika for coming up.
